The Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association’s mission statement is “to preserve and enhance a healthy and vibrant quality of life for the residents of Hillhurst-Sunnyside”. This organization is founded on the principle that human beings can be more successful in their relationships and as productive members of society if they are engaged in citizenship-building, and have a strong sense of community where they live, work and play. As a community-centered organization we also believe fundamentally that all human beings have a right to certain basic needs, and we have a responsibility to support individuals in meeting those needs wherever possible. The services we provide to achieve this mission include (but not limited to), Outreach and Senior’s Supports Services, Hall rentals, Arts & Recreation programming and facilities, Farmer’s Market, Flea Market, Community Gardens, Childcare and Advocacy for Community Planning, Vitalization and Heritage preservation.

The Opportunity: Bowview Pool Supervisor (Seasonal)

About the Opportunity
The Bowview Pool Supervisor is a seasonal position, approximately 40 hrs/wk from June 10th to September 10th 2012. The Pool Supervisor will also be responsible for working on a casual basis beginning in January or February 2012 to support the planning and preparation before the season opens and will continue on a casual basis for a few weeks after the pool closes. This position is responsible for the overall management of the Bowview Pool operations, including budget oversight, recruitment, scheduling and supervision of pool staff, cash control, supplies ordering, and program design, delivery and marketing. With the support of 2 Assistant Supervisors, you will ensure excellent customer service, maintain a professional facility and create a great, safe place to work and play.

About You
Applicants must be at least eighteen years of age, have a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Applicants must also have the following awards (current or within the expiry dates indicated on the award): Pool Operators 1 & 2, National Lifeguard, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Life Saving Instructor, Standard First Aid and CPR (Basic Rescuer) Awards. In addition, the applicant must have at least two years related experience in a supervisory capacity in swimming pools.
