Volunteers Needed for the 17^th Annual Sun & Salsa Festival

Come out to volunteer and support the Brenda Strafford Centre at the Sun & Salsa Festival in Kensington.

This annual family event which draws a crowd of 90,000 takes place along Kensington Rd and 10th St NW. Seven live entertainment stages will spread Latin flavour throughout the festival if you want to listen to music and dance. Bring your kids to the Childrens’ Carnival zone for family entertainment and fun! Check out Kensington fashions on the Pageant stage or be astonished by the strongman in the King of Kensington Strongman Event. All of the great Kensington retailers, restaurants and pubs will be open for shopping and eating pleasure, along with the streets being filled with vendors & artisans selling a variety of products & services for the day.

This year, the Kensington BRZ has chosen The Brenda Strafford Society for the Prevention of Domestic Violence to be their chosen charity this year to receive the proceeds from the Sun & Salsa Festival on Sunday July 25, 2010. We must provide 60 volunteers for the day! Volunteers must be available to work 2 to 3 hour shifts from 6AM to 9PM. Duties of volunteers will vary but include manning traffic barricades, selling chips and water, and helping with garbage control as well as set up and tear down.
