Community Assistance For Seniors is a program which grew from the original Hillhurst-Sunnyside Program previously known as Neighbourhood Help, which had been running in the community for over 25 years. The Neighbourhood Help program was designed to provide housekeeping, yard work and snow shoveling services to seniors and handicapped individuals living within the boundaries of the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community.
In July of 2003, the program was renamed CAFS (Commnity Assistance For Seniors) and the service area was expanded to enable the services to reach any seniors living in the T2N or the T2E postal code areas. This move was the result of numerous phone calls from seniors residing outside the community, who could not access another program, such as City Links, without encountering a long waiting list. With financial support from FCSS (Family and Community Support Services), it was hoped that we would be able to expand the current program, with a few modifications, to help the growing number of seniors who were requesting help.

- Partial subsidy available for low income

- Housekeeping help may be available in other communities in the T2N or T2E Postal Code areas.
