“People have to feel needed. Frequently, we just offer a job and ‘perks.’ We don’t always offer people a purpose. When people feel there is a purpose and that they’re needed, there’s not much else to do except let them do the work.”

Handy Person for Seniors

HANDY PERSON HELP AVAILABLE

The Community Assistance For Seniors (CAFS) program has been very fortunate to find a handy person for the program. He has been providing help to seniors in the program since May 2007 and in that time has repaired fences, worked on eaves troughs, provided painting and helped with many other requests from seniors. He was kept extremely busy over the summer and fall months.

The winter season is a great time to get some inside work completed. If you are a senior, or know of a senior in our community; or one of the other communities serviced by the CAFS program; who need some minor repairs, installations, painting, etc., done, please contact me to make a request. Our handy person has a wide variety of skills and we will let you know if what you have requested is not possible for us and try to provide you with a referral to an alternative.

We have two year funding for this program, thanks to the generosity of the Wild Rose Foundation and as a result are able to keep the fees for services reasonable. Fees are based on income and we try to make sure that paying for the needed services is not a financial hardship on the seniors.

If you like more information or would like to make a request, please call Debbie at 293 – 0554 ext 224. I would be glad to provide you with as much information as possible.
