Terra Madre Day Potluck 2011

Where:
Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Center, Hearth room
1320 – 5th Ave. N.W.
Calgary, AB

When:
Saturday December 10, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM MST

Terra Madre Day is an opportunity for the entire Slow Food network to celebrate local food and promote sustainable production and consumption to their communities. Terra Madre Day also highlights our projects to safeguard food biodiversity, bring taste education to adults and children and connect producers with consumers.

The theme for the evening is “The Pleasure and Politics of Food” and is open to all members of the public. Together we will fire up a potluck-fueled evening of friendly dialogue and good, clean and fair local food and to mark international Terre Madre day and to engage the public on matters of local food systems. For a greater understanding of this event, visit:
http://www.slowfood.com/terremadreday

We ask that each attendee bring a potluck item to share, something that includes as much local food products as possible. Please share what inspires you! There is no charge for this event, though we do invite those who are able to donate $10 to the cause.

Please register on-line through the link below so that we can manage the number of attendees.

Bow River Flow a Great Success

The Bow River Flow attracted thousands of Calgarians to the first celebration of the Memorial Drive Parkway!

Bow River Flow is an occasion for Calgarians to gather and celebrate life along the Bow River and Memorial Drive Parkway. Imagine a great flowing commons through the heart of our city – an event that is inclusive of and accessible to all Calgarians – an invitation for individuals, families, after-church congregations, tai chi enthusiasts, to come together to mingle, and to enjoy a leisurely walk or ride along Memorial Drive, or a float down the Bow River.

It is an occasion for Calgarians to take some time on the last Sunday in August to slow down and collectively reflect on our good fortune – to leave behind the hustle and bustle of our busy work lives and the noise and hassle of our cars and traffic and simply relax, and enjoy Calgary’s beautiful Memorial Parkway, one of the gems of our city.
